Later the next week Gabriel and Kathleen got to come down to visit us here in Green Hills. Unfortunately because it was the day before Thanksgiving, one of the busiest travel days in the United States, and traveling back to New York would be rough they could only stay for a couple of hours. I tried to have all my family here, but it just didn't work out, but my brother Chris and his family got there and so did my daughter Jen. I took Gabriel and Kathleen to a couple of places that I could think of, mainly places that Michael Dougherty had been. Where he first lived when he came to Reading, his church and where he and Ellen Dougherty are buried. I wondered as we climbed the hill to the old St. Peters cemetery on Nanny Goat Hill above Cotton St. if they were thinking the same way as I was thinking when we were in Ireland, that everything seemed correct, but I couldn't see the Shannon River. You have to read the other parts of this site to understand that and that when we got to the grave sites of Michael and Ellen and James and Andrew they also then knew that they had found the right family, but now we all know who we are and it is a great warm feeling. Next year we will be back in Ireland again and maybe we will visit Scotland. I can't wait to get back there, but I suppose no trip will ever be like the first trip to Ireland or anywhere else. One last thing, when we get there I will be looking for Ellen Kirk's family my great-grandmother from Tyrone. I think sometimes I used up all the luck I could ever have on the last trip, but maybe our luck will hold up and we will have the same success with Ellen's part of the family who knows.
